Efferalgan Rectal Suppositories 150mg 10 Pieces

The indications for use of Efferalgan suppositories is the symptomatic treatment of fever and pain.

Composition:

1 suppository contains 150 mg

Action: A drug with analgesic and antipyretic effects, mainly by inhibiting prostaglandin cyclooxygenase activity in the CNS, well absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, the maximum blood concentration is reached in approximately 20-60 min. Penetrates into the bodily fluids and internal organs, approximately 25% bound to plasma proteins. It is metabolized in the liver, because of microsomal enzyme induction; excreted in the urine as glucuronide and sulfate, and after coupling with cysteine. In patients with renal failure, it is linked to paracetamol accumulation in the blood. At high doses, the produced in the body N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone can cause liver damage.

Indications: Symptomatic treatment of pain and of fever.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the drug (rare), congenital deficiency of G-6-PD and reductase methaemoglobin. Caution should be exercised in patients with asthma who are allergic to aspirin, and in the case of repeated doses in patients with severe hepatic impairment. It should not be used in children under 3 months of age.

Adverse reactions: There have been isolated cases of haematological disorders in long-term use (thrombocytopenia with symptoms of thrombocytopenic purpura), and allergic skin reactions (urticaria, erythema, pruritus, rashes). Used in high doses or in long-term treatment, it may impair liver function.

Interaction: Paracetamol does not change the bleeding time and platelet aggregation in healthy patients and patients with hemophilia. Use with drugs that inhibit the decomposition of paracetamol in the liver (rifampicin, antiepileptics, some sleeping pills), increases the risk of liver damage, with lamotrigine or chloramphenicol - reduces their concentration in the blood. Cimetidine, metyrapone, probenecid, antipyrine, salicylamide, isoniazid, ranitidine, propranolol - prolong the half-life of paracetamol in the blood.

Dosage: In children under 3 months of age paracetamol can be used only after consultation with a doctor or a physician. The recommended dose of rectally for children over 3 months of age is: 10-15 mg / kg 4 times a day, in some cases every 4 h - the treatment can be continued for 3 days. Do not exceed a daily dose of 60 mg / kg. Adults and children over 15 years of age: 600 mg x 1-4 times a day. Do not exceed a dose of 3.0 g per day. Between the doses there should be a minimum period of time of at least 4 hours. In the case of severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 10 ml / min), the interval between doses should be at least 8 hours.
