1. What Espumisan is and what it is used for

Espumisan is a medicine. belonging to the group of so-called gastrointestinal substances.

Its active substance, simethicone, destroys the gas bubbles accumulated in the stomach and intestines. The released gas is easily removed.

Espumisan is used for:

- diseases in which the gas (meteorism) accumulates in the gastrointestinal tract, bloating, fullness, symptomatic treatment;

- for abdominal cavity examinations, eg X-ray, ultrasound.

If your condition does not improve or even worsens, contact your doctor.

2. What you need to know before you use Espumisan?

Do not use Espumisan capsules:

- if you are allergic to the active substance, sunset yellow FCF (E110), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Espumian.

Gas accumulation can occur due to more serious digestive disorders. Their signs may include:

- feeling of pressure and fullness,

- tingling,

- bowel movement,

- bloating.

If these digestive disorders occur or last longer, your should consult your doctor. They will determine if there are any disorders that require treatment.

Other medicines and Espumisan

Interactions with other medicines are not known.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Adverse effects during pregnancy and lactation caused by Espumisan are unlikely because the active substance simethicone does not cross the bloodstream from the stomach and intestines. However, there are no clinical data on the use of Espumisan in pregnant women.

Espumisan contains sunset yellow and methyl parahydroxybenzoate

The azo dye contained in sunset yellow FCF (E110) may cause allergic reactions. Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) can cause allergic reactions that may be delayed.

3. How to take Espumisan?

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.


The recommended dose is:

Children over 6 years of age, adolescents and adults - 2 capsules (equivalent to 80 mg simethicone) x 3-4 times daily.


Espumisan capsules can also be used after surgery .

Children under 6 years of age and infants are given different formulations (eg liquid).

Take Espumian capsules with or without food, if necessary, and at bedtime.

Espumisan can be used until you stop experiencing symptoms of the disorder.

If necessary, Espumisan can be used for a long period of time, but if the disorder persists, read section 2 "Warnings and precautions".

Preparing patients for gastrointestinal studies, eg X-ray, ultrasound

One day before the test: 2 capsules x 3 times daily (equivalent to 240 mg simethicone per day)

What to do if you take too much Espumisan?

Harmful effects of overdose are unlikely. Even at high doses, Espumisan capsules are well tolerated.

The active substance in Espumisan capsules, simethicone, acts solely on its physical properties to disrupt the gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract. Simethicone does not cross into the bloodstream.

If you forget to take Espumisan

You can take your missed dose at any time.

If you stop taking Espumisan

If you stop taking Espumisan, your symptoms may come back.

4. Possible Side Effects

No side effects of espumisan have been observed to date.

5. How to store Espumisan?

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the blister after EXP and on the carton after EXP. The medicine is suitable for use until the last day of that month.

Do not store above 30 ° C.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or as household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer need. These measures will help protect the environment.

- The active substance is simethicone. Each soft capsule contains 40 mg simethicone.

Espumisan capsules are almost round, yellow, soft, gelatinous, with a smooth surface.

The contents of the capsule are colorless and may be slightly cloudy.
