Lactulose syrup is a medicinal solution designed to enhance peristalsis, featuring lactulose—a disaccharide that remains undegraded in the small intestine and is processed by intestinal bacteria in the large intestine.
By producing low-molecular-weight organic acids, lactulose acidifies the intestinal environment and increases intestinal contents volume, thereby stimulating peristalsis and facilitating the passage of soft, easily expellable stools. This product is particularly beneficial for addressing constipation unresponsive to dietary changes, as well as for managing conditions such as hemorrhoids, post-colon surgery recovery, and other gastrointestinal ailments requiring stool softening.
Additionally, lactulose syrup serves as a preventive measure for hepatic encephalopathy and should be administered under medical supervision.
