Composition

Each tube (40 g) contains: active substance: birch tar - 1.2 g xeroform - 1.2 g; Other ingredients: colloidal anhydrous silica, castor oil.

Description

Ointment from a light brown to greenish-brown color with a specific smell.

Indications

The drug is used in the treatment of purulent wounds, ulcers, boils, abscesses, bedsores (necrosis of tissue caused by prolonged pressure on it by lying), as well as superficial inflammation (thrombophlebitis, erysipelas).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to tar and xeroform.

Dosing and Administration

Apply externally in adults. Apply a thin layer to the affected area of skin 2-3 times a day or over the period determined by the severity of the symptoms.
In the case of a bandage overlaying the wound necrotic tissue and open blisters should be washed with an antiseptic solution prior to application. Bandage in 5-6 layers of gauze with a drug fix. Change the bandage 1 time every 2-3 days. The course of treatment is 10-12 days.

Side effects

Prolonged use leads to possible skin irritation in the form of redness, swelling, itching at the site of application of the drug.

Overdose

Prolonged use may cause manifestations of a local allergic reaction (rash, itching) that requires desensitizing therapy.
